MOMENTUM
An impulse to move is rarely a random act. Many human movements are planned events. Dance, sport, making music, and many more are activities requiring some swift and energetic input.
Human hands are such wonderful tools. Their use to communicate and to undertake the most amazing feats and accomplish wonders is universally recognised yet playful gestures remain disregarded. Emotions too range wide. Some brought about as reactions to other's moods, happiness, grief, desperation, excitement etcetera.
This portfolio of photographs titled MOMENTUM is the result of a photo shoot with an amazing woman. Many photographs were made at the event. This particular collection focuses on the involuntary waving of arms. A simple thing, but restricted nonetheless by no real reason for doing so. I guess that shows through; a mindless exercise without reason. A touch of discomfort for a seasoned model.
A video would appear less pointless perhaps yet the control of single image photography enables an eye to linger on each picture independently and observe the idiosyncrasies of human nature, the eyes, the questioning eyes.. The undertaking is not scientific more artistically awareness shining through. And nothing wild and strenuous. Perhaps next time.
